If you see crowds of bearded jolly red joggers racing past your very eyes this December, you’d be forgiven for thinking you should lay off the eggnog for a while. But on Saturday 1 December 2012 this won’t be a figment of your imagination; it will be the second annual Santa Fun Run.
Setting off from Bathurst Estate in Cirencester, speedy Santas aged eight and above will be aiming to complete a 5k fun run through the grounds and Cirencester Park to raise valuable funds for Canine Partners; a charity that provides trained assistance dogs for people with disabilities.
Adults taking part in the fun run will receive a complete Santa suit – and children a Santa hat – to race in, and everyone who enters will be rewarded with warming mulled wine and mince pies at the finish line, with non-alcoholic refreshments also available for the little ones.
The charity’s head of regional fundraising, Jill Green, said: ‘Last year’s event was a great success, raising more than £2,000 for Canine Partners. Our thanks go to Lady Bathurst who kindly allows us to use the Park for this event.
‘Our Santa Fun Run is a great way to raise cash for a worthy charity, who have a puppy training satellite in Gloucester and various disabled people in the county who are fortunate enough to have a canine partner.’
Locals interested in entering the fun run can register in advance by calling Jill Green on the telephone number below.
