Went along to Rise Helicopters on Saturday for the £20 ride. It was excellent and couldn't believe how cheap it was!...

Talking Walks in Gloucestershire

8 June – A series of fascinating monthly Talking Walks organised by The University of Gloucestershire will be getting underway this month, exploring the great outdoors and local history in magnificent surroundings.

Get out in Gloucestershire's great outdoors and learn a thing or two too.
Get out in Gloucestershire's great outdoors and learn a thing or two too.

Discover more about the history of Gloucestershire, get some fresh air in the great outdoors and get the heart-pumping by taking part in one – or all – of the University of Gloucestershire’s Talking Walks starting in January.

Held in different locations around the county every month, the moderately paced guided walks are all lead by experienced guides and will provide a fantastic opportunity to explore the landscape, its history, natural ecology and archaeology.

The enjoyable weekend Talking Walks include stops for picnics or a drink in the pub, and organisers says the aim is to share knowledge and understanding which people will then be able to take home and use to interpret landscapes themselves.

Participants should be fit and regular walkers and should arrive appropriately equipped to deal with the various terrains and weather. The walks are mostly circular, spanning between five and seven miles and lasting between four and five hours.

Windrush, A Valley That Time Forgot will be the final walk held on Sunday 8 June 2008.

For more information and to book your place on any of the Talking Walks above contact the University of Gloucestershire on (01242) 714940.
