Charity abseil in Gloucester
29 to 30 March – See the county’s sights from a unique angle this March and take part in the Stroke Association’s charity abseil from St. Barnabas Church’s 100ft tower in Gloucester.
Whether you’re after a shot of adrenaline, are game for a challenge, or want to take part in a unique event that will raise money for a fantastic local cause, The Stroke Association’s charity abseil from St. Barnabas Church tower in Gloucester may be just what you’re looking for.
There are up to 300 places up for grabs over two days, when sponsored participants will all have the chance to face the vertigo-challenging 100ft drop. Full training is included, so anyone from beginner-level to experienced abseilers can apply, but you must be fit enough to climb all of St. Barnabas Church’s stairs.
The Stroke Association’s spokesman, Stephen Chesworth, said: ‘This is a great opportunity to take a team challenge with friends, family or colleagues. You can even abseil in the attire of your choice, perhaps your company T-shirts or fancy dress – you can even dress as Spiderman and abseil as Spiderman!’
Registration for abseilers is £10 and the minimum sponsorship is £75, with fundraising packs available to all participants.
If you haven’t got a head for heights, spectators can keep their feet firmly on the ground and watch the action over the two days. If you are brave enough, however, grab a few friends for moral support and take the plunge this March – the event will raise money for the 150,000 people in the UK who suffer a stroke each year, and promises to be a thrilling experience.
