Land Rover safaris at Slimbridge
Nature lovers from across Gloucestershire will relish the opportunity to go in search of wildlife this spring, on Slimbridge Wetland Centre’s popular Land Rover safaris.
While the word ‘safari’ might conjure images of stalking the Big Five on an African adventure, this spring there is the opportunity for the whole family to spot sprightly wildlife, wading birds and a bevy of insects in their natural habitat, slightly closer to home.
Whether you take your passion for British wildlife seriously or would simply jump at the chance of seeing doe-eyed bundles of fur and splendid feathered species in the countryside, join in one of Slimbridge’s Land Rover safaris while you can.
Taking place on Saturdays and Sundays throughout May 2011, and every subsequent weekend until September, the spring safaris start at 11am and 2pm when a Land Rover will transport safari-goers in a covered trailer into the wilds of Slimbridge to lie in wait of its shy inhabitants.
Binoculars are recommended and keen photographers will undoubtedly arrive with cameras at the ready, with an expert warden on hand to point out the best wildlife including the chance to see many varieties of wading birds, rare brown hares, dragonflies and amphibians.
