Cheltenham Circular Challenge
Choose to run, walk and whether you want to take on a full marathon or single section of the Cheltenham Circular Challenge 2012, while raising funds for a charity of your choice.
Whether you fancy pushing yourself on a demanding run, or like the idea of a leisurely stroll through the magnificent Gloucestershire countryside, don’t miss the Cheltenham Circular Challenge 2012 and a unique opportunity to raise funds for a charity of your choice.
All ages and abilities will be joining together for the annual event, starting from Cheltenham Racecourse on Sunday 24 June 2012, taking on a full marathon, half marathon or single section of the pre-defined 26.2-mile long Cheltenham Circular Footpath.
The popular route is based upon existing rights of way and is clearly signed, organisers say, and in conjunction with the provided route guide should be easy to navigate. What’s more all stretches of the route are said to have their appeal, with plenty of attractive countryside and fine views to be enjoyed along the way.
The Cheltenham Circular Challenge is broken down into four sections: Panorama features great vistas across Cheltenham to the Malverns and into Wales; Escarpment includes greats views of Gloucester and the Severn Vale; Meadows offers easy walking through lush greenery and the chance to experience a new perspective of rail, road and air communications; while Villages is the setting for the home run past the Domesday villages nestling between Cheltenham and the River Severn.
Participants are invited to take on as many sections as they like, with the halfway point marking a half marathon and all four sections adding up to a full marathon. Those taking on the half or full marathon will also be individually timed.
While completing one or all four sections of this popular event is sure to provide a great sense of achievement, the chance to raise funds for your chosen charity is unbeatable. ‘Complete your challenge and be a medal winner in the Olympic year,’ organisers from The Rotary Club of Cheltenham Cleeve Vale added.
