Dean Fire and Wood Festival
Don’t miss this Forest of Dean favourite running for a fifth year, when Dean Heritage Centre plays host to the Fire and Wood Festival 2012.
The Dean Heritage Centre will once again play host to the Fire and Wood Festival in 2012 – giving families across the Forest of Dean and beyond the chance to join in with the annual action this summer.
The three-day festival, held from Saturday 2 to Monday 4 June 2011, will be celebrating wood and fire through a host of displays and demonstrations which promise to wow visitors, expected to include chainsaw carvers working with wood and fire to produce spectacular sculptures, blacksmiths demonstrating their ancient craft and bow-makers revealing the art form behind weapon-making.
Visitors can also expect to see a number of other traditional crafts being practiced, including woodturning and beekeeping to pottery throwing, blacksmithing and pole lathe turning.
Plus, there will also be demonstrations on survival bush crafts in the style of Bear Grylls, while dozens of crafts people and stall holders will be offering their hand-crafted wares, in what has become an unmissable event for families across Gloucestershire.
