Gloucester Festival of Rugby
Meet the Gloucester Rugby players, take a Kingsholm tour, watch a touch tournament and wear your shirt to work at the fifth annual Gloucester Festival of Rugby 2010.
The Gloucester Festival of Rugby has been a popular fixture on the city’s programme of events for five years now, with the 2010 annual celebration taking place from Saturday 28 August 2010 for 14 packed days of sporting activities and events.
Launching the brand new rugby season, and promising to attract Gloucester Rugby fans from far and wide, organisers say this year’s series of events will be the best yet.

Invictus screening

Gloucester Guildhall will be hosting a special screening of the 2009 film starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman, about South Africa’s victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Tickets cost £5.50, or £4.50 for concessions including everyone wearing a rugby shirt.
Rugby Memorabilia Exhibition

An intriguing Rugby Memorabilia Exhibition will take place at Gloucester City Museum and Art Gallery, on Tuesdays through to Saturdays, with free admission.
Touch rugby tournament

From 11.30am, spectators are welcome to watch a variety of teams compete in a special touch rugby tournament for charity, at Gloucester All Blues, The Oxleaze, Castlemeads Way, Gloucester.

Rugby fans will be relishing the chance to meet some of the team’s newest players at this free event, at the Gloucester Rugby Star Suite at Kingsholm Stadium, from 1pm to 5pm.
Rugby pub quiz

A rugby pub quiz is once again planned in aid of the Cobalt Unit, taking place at Teagues Bar in Gloucester. Entry costs £5 for a team of three, and teams can register on the night. The winners will then take on a team of current and former Gloucester Rugby stars in the Question of Sport quiz.

Sports fans, and Cherry and Whites supporters, can take a free tour of Gloucester Rugby Club’s impressive Kingsholm Stadium at 10.30am on the Thursday. While free of charge, tours must be pre-booked by calling (01452) 872286.

A fitting finale to this year’s Gloucester Festival of Rugby is the chance for sports fans to wear their rugby shirt to work for the local charity the Pied Piper Appeal.
