Now in its fifth year, the Stroud Walking Festival has gone from strength to strength – with organisers promising the 2011 outdoor spectacular will be bigger and better than ever before.

Taking place from Friday 2 to Sunday 18 September 2011, the festival will aim to highlight the wonderful countryside in which Stroud nestles – with dozens of walks being organised across the beautiful district.

Spread over 17 days there is sure to be something for all tastes and abilities, with the chance to try a gentle stroll around the Museum in the Park through to taking on a 10-mile trek around the borders of the town expected in 2011.

In 2010 each walk had its own name, from Walk for Wellbeing and River ArtWalk to A Tale of Two Tunnels and Up and Under, giving participants a clue of what’s on offer.

There will be the chance to explore local pubs, history and nature, promising to open walkers’ eyes, stimulate their senses and reveal hidden treasures of this enigmatic part of Gloucestershire.

Taking place as part of the Stroud Festival Fortnight – which also includes Stroud Fringe Festival, Stroud Food and Drink Festival, Stroud Open Homes and Stroud Vintage Festival – this anticipated event is set to be a real early autumn highlight for another year running.
