Avid and budding walkers alike won’t want to miss out on the chance to explore the stunning Stroud Valleys by foot, during the Stroud Walking Festival 2009.

Don't miss out on the chance to enjoy the great outdoors during the Stroud Walking Festival 2009.

The year 2009 will welcome the third Stroud Walking Festival, when seasoned and aspiring walkers from across Gloucestershire and far beyond are expected to join in on the action in this stunning part of the county.

Organisers say in just two years the festival has become one of the biggest in Britain, and the Stroud Walking Festival 2009 will once again give participants the chance to uncover some of the hidden corners of the Stroud Valleys.

Spread over two weeks, last year’s programme included more than 30 walks in conjunction with organisations such as the National Trust, Ramblers Association, Stroud Valleys Project and Natural England. Events ranged from mile-long strolls for young families, to a 22-mile hike to Miserden and back.

And the great news is that the 2009 festival is set to be just as good, when participants will be welcomed to join in on an existing walk – run by fully qualified walk leaders in and around Stroud – or organise their own walk as a self-contained event.

Whether you’re looking forward to putting your fine-tuned walking skills to the test or will need to dust off those never-before-used walking boots, don’t miss out on the chance to explore one of the most stunning parts of Gloucestershire with this two-week-long event.
