Badminton, football and cricket will now be played in the new sports hall.

On Thursday 1 October 2009, leisure@cheltenham’s sports hall will be officially opened to members of the public – completing the final part of the leisure centre’s multi-million pound refurbishment after considerable damage in the 2007 floods.

Cricket, badminton and football players are expected to flock to the new sports hall, where the full re-fit has included brand new doors, cricket netting and sport flooring.

Stephen Petherick, leisure@cheltenham commercial manager, said: ‘We’re delighted that the much-awaited hall is open again. We have already received a number of bookings and had lots of interest in using the space both for cricket and 5 a side football.’

The sports hall is now open for hire to anyone who wishes to use it, and it is not restricted to clubs and societies. Bookings can be made by calling leisure@cheltenham on (01242) 528764, or visit cheltenham.gov.uk/leisureat for more information.
