Jimmy White at Pockets Snooker Club
Legendary snooker player Jimmy Whirlwind White is set to mark Pockets Snooker Club in Cheltenham officially open, at a special event this month.
Great news for snooker fans from across the county, as not only will well-known local venue Pockets Snooker Club open its doors once again this month, but none other than the legendary Jimmy Whirlwind White will be there to mark the occasion in true style.
Taking place on Saturday 20 February 2010, Pockets Snooker Club’s celebrity event will give budding members the chance to check out the eight full size snooker tables, five American pool tables, lounge and array of other facilities, as well as see the sporting and I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star in the flesh.
For those not in the know, in 1980 Jimmy White became the youngest ever winner of the World Amateur Snooker Championship at the age of 18, he has 23 professional titles under his belt – including 10 ranking titles, played in 25 World Championship tournaments between 1981 and 2009, and is one of only six players to achieve a maximum break of 147 in the World Championship.
And, of course, the Whirlwind also graced our television sets in 2009, as a contestant in the ninth series of the ITV show I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! – in which he came third, with celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo taking the top spot.
Opening under new management, with the premises having being totally refurbished, don’t miss the chance to see Pocket Snooker Club in its new glory, with a suitably stylish celebrity appearance to boot.
