Award-winning Cornish company Treasure Trails is expanding its expedition empire to the Gloucestershire landscape, and is inviting budding explorers and local treasure-hunters to get out and about in the fresh air this summer.

Established in 2005, Treasure Trails writes treasure hunts aimed at families, couples and groups of super-sleuths, offering them the opportunity to learn about and experience their local region in a unique and enjoyable way.

Each new Gloucestershire trail has clues to be solved, with the answers located on existing monuments, structures and scenic spots. The routes are all around two miles long, giving families plenty of time together doing an activity.

Adventurers will be able to pick from themed trails such as the Treasure Hunt, Murder Mystery or Spy Mission and afterwards, submit the finished answers to be in with a chance of winning a cash prize.

Rachel Butt, responsible for bringing Treasure Trails to Gloucestershire, commented: ‘There are already nine trails available across the county. They cover parts of the Cotswolds as well as some of the county’s bigger towns and cities. Two new Trails in Cheltenham’s Montpellier and Gloucester City and Docks will be launched in mid-May and I plan to have 25 trails throughout Gloucestershire by the end of the year.’

‘The interest from local people has been fantastic and I can’t wait to visit and write trails in the many more beautiful areas of Gloucestershire.’

Karen Shearn of Ettington and her family completed the Stow-on-the-Wold Treasure Trail: ‘We spent the afternoon in Stow-on-the-Wold recently and followed the Treasure Trail with our children aged 9 and 13. What great value for a few hours of educational fun it proved to be. Combined with a pub lunch it made a memorable day out, with no groans about walking! We are now looking forward to following another trail in the Cotswolds and really recommend it to others!’

So if you want to combine a healthy, cost-effective walk with a fun and educational adventure, grab a Treasure Trail for £5 from selected Gloucestershire tourist information centres.
