Local fundraiser to ride from London to Paris

News – Ruth Owen-Overton from Ellenborough Park will be taking on the London to Paris bike ride this summer, raising funds for the Gloucestershire-based Meningitis Trust.

Ellenborough Park's sales and marketing manager, Ruth Owen-Overton, will be helping to raise £5,000 for the Gloucestershire-based Meningitis Trust this July, as she embarks on a gruelling London to Paris bike ride.

Accompanied by her husband Neil, Ruth will be taking on a 200-mile journey from Friday 1 July to Monday 4 July 2011, in tribute to her brother who died from meningococcal septicaemia aged three and a half.

The Cheltenham couple will begin their expedition in London, where they will navigate their way towards Dover before crossing by ferry to Calais – eventually pedaling their way to the foot of the iconic Eiffel Tower.

‘It is 45 years since I lost my brother, but he is always in my thoughts, which is why I decided to take up this challenge. We are hoping to raise around £5,000 in total which would be a wonderful sum of money for a worthy cause which is close to our hearts,’ Ruth said.

Ruth and Neil have been training hard in advance of the event, and are sure to do Gloucestershire proud during the 200-mile journey.
