Cheltenham 2011 Ice Rink postponed
News – The Cheltenham ice rink planned for Pittville Park as part of the Winter Wonderland project has been postponed, SoGlos.com can reveal.
Cheltenham’s anticipated 2011 ice rink, set to take to Pittville Park this Christmas as part of Cheltenham Cafe Co’s Winter Wonderland project, has sadly been postponed.
The decision, supported by Cheltenham Borough Council, will enable the company to come back with plans for a 2012 event.
Susannah Moffat, Central Cross Drive Cafe partner, said: ‘While we have received an enormous amount of support for this project from customers and residents alike, we appreciate that some residents have concerns about issues such as noise and parking and we take these very seriously.
‘Given the timeframe we have to work through these issues, it is not realistic to expect a resolution before next month, so regrettably we will now not be pursuing this project for 2011.’
While Cheltenham Council leader Steve Jordan added: ‘Although it will be a shame not to see the Ice Rink up and running this Christmas, time constraints may have impacted on the possible success and delivery of the project.’
The project had provisionally been awarded £10,000 from the Promoting Cheltenham Fund to run the Winter Wonderland Ice Rink, with the full projected expected to cost £30,000 in total.
The SoGlos.com team were in full support of the anticipated Cheltenham event, and hope to see it get underway this time next year.
