While the event may still officially be cancelled, Monday 4 June 2012 saw the third unofficial Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling event take to Cooper’s Hill near Gloucester – with thousands of spectators turning up to enjoy the fun.
More than 100 fearless competitors tested their grit over four downhill races – with one uphill for the little ones – and crowd numbers were in the thousands.
Despite grey skies and the threat of rain, the weather remained good – the sunshine even made an appearance at one point – and the atmosphere at the event was one of the best the SoGlos.com team has ever experienced.
Local legend Chris Anderson was, unsurprisingly, the stand-out champion and all-round celebrity of the day – although fans were surprised to hear of his dislike of Double Gloucester cheese!
