JP Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s at Gloucester Rugby

Kingsholm Stadium will be the setting for Pool C of the Rugby 7s series this year.

Rugby lovers across Gloucestershire will be excited to hear that the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s Series returns this year, and will see one regional pool event take place on the home turf of Gloucester Rugby stadium on Thursday 26 July 2012.

Kicking off on Friday 13 July 2012, the series will feature three regional events at The Twickenham Stoop, Stockport’s Edgeley Park and Gloucester Rugby, before the top two seeds from each pool go through to battle it out in the final, being held at The Recreation Ground in Bath on Friday 3 August 2012.

The Gloucester Rugby squad will consist of 12 players, boasting plenty of first team experience, with England Saxons flyer Jonny May named skipper for the evening. He will lead a squad that features the likes of Mike Tindall, Freddie Burns, Matt Cox and Henry Trinder, as well as new signings Huia Edmonds and Shane Monahan.

Pool C will see Bath Rugby, Exeter Chiefs, Gloucester Rugby and Worcester Warriors up against each other at our beloved Kingsholm, with Gloucester fans expected to fill the stadium to cheer on the home team.

Pools A and C will feature matches between the Harlequins, London Irish, London Wasps, Saracens, Leicester Tigers, Newcastle Falcons, Northampton Saints and Sale Sharks.

Last season saw the Newcastle Falcons crowned champions after beating holders Saracens 31-21 in a high-scoring, exciting final, but we’re, of course, hoping that Gloucester Rugby not only makes it to this year’s final, but wipes the floor with the rest of them.
