Rugby for Heroes clay shoot fundraiser goes with a bang

Rugby for Heroes charity patron Mike Tindall ensured a thrilling day’s shooting went with a bang, at Ian Coley Shooting in Cheltenham.

Established in 2011 with its HQ in Gloucester, Rugby for Heroes is a national charity which works with the rugby community to raise funds and awareness for military personnel who are making the transition to civilian life.

Earlier this month the charity’s patron, England and Gloucester Rugby player Mike Tindall, joined over a dozen local businesses for a charity fundraiser at Ian Coley Shooting School near Cheltenham.

SoGlos group publisher James Fyrne joined the action in a press team, kicking off the day in style with bacon rolls and plenty of banter, followed by shooting across six of Ian Coley’s stands, a coffee break to refuel, scored scooting across more stands and then a simulated game flush – a thrilling experience to get a feel for the real thing.

A two-course lunch was served in the large marquee erected for the occasion, with food by local catering company Hey Pesto, making way for a charity action complete with prizes from Chase Distillery, Ian Coley Shooting, Worcester Warriors and SoGlos going up for grabs. It was handy to have Simon Bailey, an experienced auctioneer and the charity’s chairman, take care of proceedings.

Rugby for Heroes

Everyone left buzzing having enjoyed an exhilarating day out in aid of a great cause, and the event raised a fantastic £6,500 for Rugby for Heroes. Following the success, organisers hope this event will be the first in a series at Ian Coley Shooting School.
