Went along to Rise Helicopters on Saturday for the £20 ride. It was excellent and couldn't believe how cheap it was!...

While spending an evening with Frank Carson might not be everyone’s cup of tea, this comedy circuit legend is sure to pull in seasoned fans from across Gloucestershire when he takes to Cheltenham Town Hall stage on Thursday 22 May 2008.

Needing no introduction and now in his 80s, the Northern Irish comedian is an institution of British comedy, having been a regular on children’s show Tiswas, performed alongside Bernard Manning, Mike Reid and Jim Bowen, and in front of the Royal Family during his long career. Audiences can expect plenty of Irish wit – tried and tested on a Blackpool crowd for many years – including catchphrases ‘It’s the way I tell ‘em’ and ‘It’s a cracker’, no doubt.

Joining Frank on Cheltenham Town Halls ‘A Comedy Night Out’ will be Duncan Norvelle, another classic comedian having spent much of his adult life playing in clubs and nightspots across the county – in addition to numerous appearance on cruise liners and the corporate circuit. His catchphrase ‘Chase Me!’ is one of the most recognised around, having been copied by scores of comedians and impressionists over the years.

Completing the night’s trio of live performers will be Ian Lees, having started his showbusiness life with two top comedy showgroups of the 1970s, The Montanas and Light Fantastic, before making the break as a solo artist. Sludge, as he is affectionately known, was also a regular member of the Tizwas cast, having also regularly appeared on the likes of The Comedians, Summertime Special and Live From Her Majesty’s.

For fans of a form of comedy which has had Britain in stitches for many, many decades, don’t miss what is set to be a very special two-hour show.
