Carousel at the Bacon Theatre

Event ended

11 July – An all-singing and all-dancing cast will be walking the boards at Cheltenham’s Bacon Theatre for the family musical Carousel this summer, celebrating Promenade Productions’ 25 year anniversary.

This summer, the Bacon Theatre’s stage will be transformed into a carnival for the much-loved family musical Carousel – being staged in Cheltenham from Wednesday 8 to Saturday 11 July 2009.

Carousel, which was named as the best musical of the 20th century and was the personal favourite of Rodgers & Hammerstein, will be performed by prolific amateur dramatics society Promenade Productions to celebrate the company’s 25 anniversary.

Telling the story of Billy Bigelow, who asks for permission to be sent down from heaven for one day to try and make amends for mistakes he made in life, the musical is packed full of memorable songs including, ‘If I Loved You’, ‘June is Bustin’ Out All Over’, the rousing ‘Clambake’ and the unforgettable ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Directed by husband and wife team John and Heather Pannett, with a cast of over 40 amateur performers, ranging in age from teenagers to senior citizens, this fully costumed and fully orchestrated production promises to be a highlight of the summer stage for musical lovers the county over.
