The Gloucester-based Rain or Shine Theatre Company is embarking on a 65-date tour of the UK this summer, with Gloucestershire theatre lovers able to see their performances of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale at a number of county venues.

Rain or Shine will be recreating the Bard’s masterpiece in a host of glorious outdoor locations from June until August – and as their name suggests, whatever the weather, the audience can be guaranteed that the band of professional local actors will be taking to the stage with their unseasonably-titled play.

Passion, love and reunion rule this beguiling dramatic comedy, according to organisers – with a cast of kings and queens, singing street pedlars, dancing shepherds, an extraordinary statue, and a hungry bear all expected to take to the stage.

The following Gloucestershire venues will be playing host to Rain or Shine’s The Winter’s Tale this summer, with tickets costing between £5 and £12:

Saturday 9 August 2008 from 7pm at Lodge Park, near Northleach
Phone 0871 527 1885 to book tickets

Sunday 17 August 2008 from 7.30pm at Slimbridge Wetland Centre
Phone (01453) 891223 or visit TicketWeb.co.uk to book tickets

Grab a picnic, don’t forget the cushions, and if rain is predicted pack an umbrella, for the line-up of family-friendly performances that promise to be a highlight of the summer for Shakespeare fans in Gloucestershire.
