The crowd is always good to and there's a lively atmosphere. My only recommendation is to arrive early. Oh, and I took a first date to one night...

Beauty and The Beast in Tewkesbury
Until 3 January – Oh yes it is pantomime time in Tewkesbury, and this year Beauty and The Beast will be entertaining audiences of all ages at The Roses Theatre.
Beauty and The Beast will be springing onto The Roses Theatre’s stage this November, for a traditional Christmas pantomime set to entertain families from Tewkesbury and beyond this festive season.
Running from Saturday 29 November 2008 until Saturday 3 January 2009, with matinee and evening performances on most days, no matter how busy Christmas will be, there is no excuse not to squeeze in a memorable trip to the theatre for some traditional family entertainment.
For the uninitiated, Beauty and The Beast sees a handsome, but selfish, Prince who has been cursed to live out his days in the form of a hideous beast – unless he can learn to love and win the love of another before his 500 years are up. Time is running-out when Beauty becomes a prisoner within the castle walls.
Join catastrophic cleaning lady Dame Dorothy Do-It, her bumbling son Willy, local charmer Eugene and his sidekick Porky Pimple as they assemble the most unlikely of rescue parties and embark on an adventure filled with heroic deeds, true love, messy mayhem and plenty of festive frivolity.
Playing the role of the Roses’ larger than life panto dame will once again be ex-army officer Tim Freeman, who had the audience’s sides aching in last year’s Aladdin. He is set to be joined on stage by a talented, professional cast once again this year in the pantomime specially written for The Roses by the writers of TV’s The Tweenies.
Expect silly jokes, gorgeous costumes, a fantastic baddie to boo and hiss at, glittering sets, a wonderfully messy slosh scene and a huge amount of audience participation, in what organisers promise is a perfect show for all the family and a great way to introduce children to the magical world of theatre.
