The crowd is always good to and there's a lively atmosphere. My only recommendation is to arrive early. Oh, and I took a first date to one night...

Slimbridge Variety Showgroup will be putting on a pantomime with a real difference this Christmas, when a real dame takes the role of The Dame in their performance of the famous Dick Whittington.

Running from Tuesday 2 to Saturday 6 December 2008 at Slimbridge Village Hall, organisers promise the show will be a sparkling and fun-filled version of the traditional tale of Dick Whittington, delightfully brought to life by the ‘pantomime king’ John Morley.

‘Our usual suspects for Dame are unable to take part this year, so for the first time we can recall we have a Dame – who is a dame!’, said director John Greenwood.

All the favourite characters are set to make an appearance during the five performances, including Tommy the Cat, Fitzwarren, Sarah the Cook, King Rat, The Fairy of Bells and, of course not forgetting, Dick Whittington himself.

Event: Dick Whittington Pantomime
Venue: Slimbridge Village Hall, St John’s Road, Slimbridge, GL2 7DD.
Date: Tuesday 2 to Saturday 6 December 2008
Times: TBC
Tickets: Cost £6 for adults and £4 for children, available from Slimbridge Post Office or by calling (01453) 890517.
