The Taming of the Shrew across Gloucestershire

Event ended

28 August – Take your seats for one of eight outdoor performances of Shakespeare’s The Taming of The Shrew, being performed by Rain or Shine across Gloucestershire this summer.

The Gloucester-based Rain or Shine Theatre Company is embarking on a huge tour of the UK this summer, with Gloucestershire theatre lovers able to see their performances of Shakespeare’s The Taming of The Shrew at a number of county venues.

Rain or Shine will be recreating the Bard’s rip-roaring masterpiece in a host of glorious outdoor locations from June until August – and as their name suggests, whatever the weather, the audience can be guaranteed that the band of professional local actors will be taking to the stage with this comedy classic.

Organisers say: ‘When a number of suitors seek the hand in marriage of Bianca Minola, they discover her father Baptista will not allow her to wed until her spirited older sister Katharina has been married first. Enter Petruchio, a fortune hunter in search of a wife.

‘His unconventional approach to the wooing process sets the scene for a witty, physical romp involving rich language, slapstick humour, cunning disguise, identity theft, sibling rivalry and a bizarre wedding day.’

The following Gloucestershire venues will be playing host to Rain or Shine’s The Taming of the Shrew this summer:
