See Basil, Sybil and other characters from Fawlty Towers brought to life on stage in Dursley, during DODS’ anticipated autumn production.

Popular local theatre company Dursley Operatic and Dramatic Society, known simply as DODS, will be taking on the celebrated British sitcom Fawlty Towers for four nights at Lister Hall in Dursley this autumn.

With performances scheduled to take place from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 October 2010, three episodes of the madcap antics in everyone’s favourite hotel from hell will be brought to life on stage.

Audiences can expect to see snobbish Torquay hotel owner, Basil, trying to rule the roost in competition with his domineering and over-coiffured wife Sybil. While calm and capable waitress Polly keeps the peace, and hopeless Barcelona-born waiter Manuel adds to the mishaps.

Will Sybil beat O’Reilly the inept builder into submission? Will Basil break down with frustration at the selectively deaf Mrs Richards as his winnings disappear? Will the Fawlty Towers team keep the hotel in business as they try to stop Mr Carnegie, the public health inspector, from tripping over Basil the pet rat?

With even more favourite characters from the award-winning sitcom set to make appearances, such as resident guests The Major, Miss Tibbs and Miss Gatsby, Terry the chef and a steady stream of abused guests, this fun-filled DODS show should not be missed.
