Big Laugh Cafe with Des Bishop
Irish-American stand-up Des Bishop will be entertaining Big Laugh Cafe crowds in Gloucester, accompanied by two other comics and a disco to boot.
Gloucester Guildhall’s very own comedy club The Big Laugh Cafe is back, and kicking off the New Year with an evening’s entertainment featuring Des Bishop and guests on Saturday 4 February 2012.
As a native New Yorker, Des moved from Queens to Ireland in his mid-teens in 1990, and has since carved out a successful career in stand-up comedy – including three television series on Irish television.
According to the stand-up’s own website, the openness and honesty of his presenting style combined with his restless imagination and insightful comic observations make him a must-see for fans of unique, enquiring and entertaining comedy.
Bishop’s most recent stand-up show, My Dad Was Nearly James Bond, premiered at the 2010 Melbourne International Comedy Festival to rave reviews – and has since gone down a storm at the Montreal Just for Laughs and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.
Support on the night will come from the ‘brilliant and cheeky’ Marlon Davis, winner of an FHM magazine stand-up award and star of MTV, plus a third act to be confirmed.
While true to The Big Laugh Cafe’s reputation, there will be table seating, hot food and a disco to enjoy on the night.
