A teenage boy with a girl’s name and an unconventional superhero will be hoping to win over hearts this June, when The Adventures of Wound Man and Shirley calls at the Parabola Arts Centre.
From the acclaimed writer, Chris Goode, and commissioned by Manchester-based production company, Queer Up North, The Adventures of Wound Man and Shirley has seen success touring the country since 2009 – as well as becoming a hit at Edinburgh’s 2011 Festival Fringe.
The play is a funny and touching story about an outcast teenage boy named Shirley and his unlikely union with Wound Man – a modern-day superhero based on a character from a medieval medical textbook, who moves onto Shirley’s street and just happens to be looking for a teenage sidekick.
Organisers promise an evening of light-hearted humour for fans of theatre and comic books alike, on Friday 1 June 2012, in a show that not only aims to confront teenage demons but also reveals the true meaning of relationships.
Please note, the previously scheduled Saturday 2 June 2012 show has been cancelled.
