Animal lovers who like a spot of theatre are sure to enjoy Nicole et Martin’s adaptation of the Brothers Grimm tale The Musicians of Bremen when it takes to the stage at Taurus Crafts on Thursday 9 August 2012.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo of the same names in 1999, Nicole et Martin has been touring the world with its own wooden-framed big top ever since, racking up an impressive 1,700 performances.
Well-known for its spectacular mix of acrobatics, music, theatre and storytelling, the theatre company is hoping for another success with its latest rework, The Musicians of Bremen, said to be suitable for anyone aged seven and above.
Organisers said: A donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster are old and tired and no longer fulfil their master’s expectations. A tragic end seems unavoidable. So the four animals decide to escape – and off they go with a spring in their step.
‘They set off for Bremen, where they intend to start a new life as town musicians. But on the path through the forest they discover a robbers’ hideout.
‘Drawing on all their forces, and with an almighty hullabaloo, the animals chase the robbers from the house, and celebrate their success with a big feast.’
Book your tickets now and find out if the foursome ever makes it to Bremen, in a tale that promises the perfect blend of humour and symbolism.
