The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham will once again be playing host to a multi award-winning play, in the form of Tom Kempinski’s Duet for One, which will hit the stage from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 September 2012.
Presented by Calibre Productions, the play, which will be directed by Robin Herford, is expected to strike a chord with those who have faced illness, depression or heartache, due to its sensitive subject, but promises to have a positive and optimistic outcome.
Duet for One is based on the true story of cellist Jacqueline du Pré, following the life of celebrated concert violinist Stephanie Abrahams through a series of highly-charged encounters with her doctor, Alfred Feldman, as she is forced to re-evaluate her life and face a truth too difficult to comprehend.
Haydn Gwynne, star of Peak Practice, Drop the Dead Donkey and most recently Billy Elliot The Musical, will be hoping to connect with the Everyman audience as Stephanie, while household name William Gaunt, who boasts appearances in ITV’s Sergeant Cork and on stage in King Lear, will play Doctor Feldman.
The Cheltenham performances of Duet for One are expected to be particularly close to Gaunt’s heart, due to the fact that he began his impressive repertory theatre career at none other than the Everyman Theatre.
