SoGlos journalism internship open for applications

SoGlos is delighted to announce its hugely popular internship programme has now reopened for applications, and with it the chance for aspiring journalists to gain a practical insight into the world of online publishing.

Now in its fourth phase, internships are once again available on award-winning online magazine for Gloucestershire, SoGlos, entailing:

• Researching and writing Gloucestershire event listings
• Progressing to researching and writing full by-lined features
• Possibility of conducting and writing interviews
• Possibility of undertaking a local venue review
• Using SoGlos’s bespoke content management system to publish articles
• Mentoring and guidance from SoGlos’s experienced journalists
• A portfolio of editorial work and reference upon successful completion

Candidates interested in applying should have:

• A passion for the media industry, demonstrated through previous experience or relevant academic study
• A strong interest in arts and entertainment journalism
• An excellent command of the English language, a flair for writing and an ability to work to tight deadlines

Details for the internship are as follows:

• Available on a three- to six-month basis, with applicants expected to commit to at least one day per week during that time
• Based from SoGlos’s central Cheltenham office on Imperial Square
• The internship is voluntary, but travel/lunch expenses of up to £10 per day are available

While we hope you’ll take your turn making the coffees and there will be some admin involved, the aim of the programme is to give interns a hands-on, structured and enjoyable insight into the publishing industry as part of our small and hard-working team.
