Gloucestershire’s most innovative media company, SoPublishing is a hugely ambitious independent publishing group, established almost ten years ago by two pioneering journalists on a mission to bring online media bang up-to-date in the regions.
Based on Cheltenham’s Imperial Square, we produce two market-leading titles, the award-winning arts and entertainment flagship, SoGlos, and Gloucestershire’s first online wedding magazine, SoGlosWeddings – with two new Bristol titles coming soon.
Smart, stylish and effortlessly user-friendly, our titles provide quality advertising opportunities which are proven to help the best businesses in and around the county attract new customers, alongside exceptional editorial content exclusively written by journalists.
As a graduate advertising consultant you will receive full training before hitting the ground running representing SoPublishing’s two Gloucestershire titles. Focusing on new business sales, you will be targeting and working with a diverse array of local businesses by telephone – with the opportunity to progress to field sales – advising potential clients on the best ways to attract new customers through our tried-and-tested range of advertising services: from powerful display advertising and timely advertorial guides to social media marketing and prestigious sponsorship opportunities.
From top restaurants, luxurious hotels and leading attractions to vibrant entertainment venues and elegant wedding dress boutiques, you will immerse yourself in Gloucestershire’s thriving business community, quickly building up your knowledge and contacts and continually developing your skills, with the aim of becoming an authoritative advertising expert.
You’ll be responsible for nurturing a specific geographical area and will source leads through a range of channels, undertaking thorough ‘fact find’ consultations with potential clients and confidently communicating the proven benefits of advertising on our titles. You will devise creative client campaign ideas and negotiate and win contracts, managing and growing your accounts on an ongoing basis.
The role will entail a structured training programme, ongoing mentoring and guidance, and the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals – with huge potential for accelerated career progression for top performing individuals.
This is a full-time, permanent role.
You’ve come a long way through your academic studies, but appreciate there’s still a lot to learn and are chomping at the bit to embark on an exciting, lucrative career in new business sales.
You are a recent graduate with a minimum 2:2, and are looking for life’s next big challenge. You are pro-active self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude and enjoy working on your own initiative; you’re outgoing, personable and unwaveringly positive.
You are a career-driven, motivated individual with existing work experience – previous sales experience would be a real plus.
You would be just as confident picking up the telephone as presenting face-to-face or working the room at a glittering social event, you’d enjoy building relationships and communicating the benefits of our market-leading advertising services, and will be a quick learner able to anticipate and overcome objections.
You are also highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, and while we’re not looking for techie geeks, you are a web user and know your Twitter from your Instagram. An avid interest in Gloucestershire arts and entertainment and / or weddings would be a bonus.
Above all else, you are an honest, trustworthy and hardworking team player, passionate about the prospect of a long-term sales career and someone who would get a real buzz from hunting for sales and achieving results, thriving under the pressure of a target-driven environment.
• Basic starting salary of £18,000
• Achievable monthly commission structure and uncapped on-target earnings of £30,000 per annum
• Six-monthly bonus scheme to earn a £5,000 holiday of a lifetime for you and a friend
• Full 28 days paid holiday
• An additional day’s holiday for every year with the company
• Your birthday off (cakes are on you!)
• Provision of a laptop, iPhone and iPad Air
• Structured career progression, ongoing training, and personal performance reviews
• Regular #SoGlosSocial team nights out and away days – from wine tasting dinners to cheering on Gloucester Rugby from our box
