10 dazzling ideas for a New Year’s Eve wedding

From metallic dresses and black tie groomswear, to free-flowing Champagne and glitter, discover 10 dazzling ideas that are perfect for New Year’s Eve wedding celebrations.

December 31 is the perfect date to celebrate your big day, not only is the atmosphere already charged with excitement, but it means you’ll definitely have someone to kiss at midnight!

SoGlos has got into the party spirit to share 10 fabulous ideas on how to make sure your New Year’s Eve wedding is one to remember. After all, what could be more romantic than beginning your journey as a married couple as you welcome in a brand new year?

1. Metallic maids of honour

Nothing says celebration quite as much as a metallic gown, with mix and match tones perfect for adding that all-important New Year’s Eve sparkle to your bridesmaids.

2. Glittering bride

New Year’s Eve definitely calls for a bit of sparkle, so why not consider adding a bit of shimmer to your bridal gown? Opt for beading and silver embellishments to make you glitter throughout the day, or introduce a bit of glitz with a statement headpiece.

3. Stylish black tie grooms

If ever there was an occasion for black tie, New Year’s Eve is the night to dress to impress. Grooms will look extra dapper walking down the aisle in black tie, with a sharp suit, crisp white shirt and bow tie definitely adding a sense of glamour to the proceedings.

4. Glamorous decor

From giant balloons and tassel garlands, to glittery word banners and fabulous white blooms, tying the knot on December 31 is the perfect excuse to go all out with styling. Team gold with berry tones for a rich colour palette, or keep it elegant with black, white and hints of metallic.

5. Glitzy cakes

Give traditional tiered cakes a glitzy New Year’s Eve makeover by decorating them with edible sequins, glitter, satin-finish icing and gold leaf. And, for the ultimate wow factor, top your cake with sparklers for a dramatic and most definitely memorable photo op.

6. Fun party favours

Add to the lively atmosphere by choosing to have party poppers, hats or blowers as quirky favours. Your guests can use them to celebrate the bride and groom, or save them until midnight to ring in the new year!

7. Late night bar

As many British weddings tend to wind down by 12am, make sure to check that your venue will continue serving alcohol after midnight, and that they’re happy for you and your guests to stay until late, as guests at a New Year’s Eve wedding will expect to party into the small hours.

8. Let the Champagne flow

And speaking of the bar, your wedding won’t be complete without a glass (or two) of bubbly to ring in the new year, especially served in vintage-style coupe glasses. But, in order to keep costs down, save the Champagne for the countdown to midnight and serve prosecco or cava throughout the night instead.

9. Sparkling send off

For your grand exit, ditch the confetti and opt for festive sparklers to send the newlyweds off into the first of many new years as a married couple. And, if you still like the idea of confetti, give your guests mini bags filled with giant gold glitter – perfect for atmosphere-filled photos.

10. Fireworks

No New Year’s Eve is complete without the obligatory fireworks, and while you might not be able to afford to rival London’s effort, a smaller-scale display will definitely give your big day an extra special finale.
