Environmental campaign #LoveYourForest is introducing two new characters to the Forest of Dean this May 2021, with the hopes of reducing litter and boosting recycling in the area.

Two new recycle reward machines – named Sir Recyclesalot and Buddy the Bottle Crusher – are being installed at The Midcounties Co-Operative’s Coleford Food store and the Dean Heritage Centre in Soudley by environmental charity, Hubbub.

The initiative will allow residents and visitors to put their empty bottles and cans into the recycle reward machines in exchange for tickets, which recyclers can then use to claim prizes.

The prizes include a Forest of Dean lottery ticket, offering the chance of winning up to £25,000, and #LoveYourForest merchandise, including an organic cotton tote bag, wind up torch and reusable water bottle.

Prizes can be claimed at either the Tourist Information Centre in Coleford or at the Dean Heritage Centre.

A project coordinator at Hubbub, said: ‘The new Recycle Reward Machines are an invaluable asset to help reduce litter in the Forest of Dean. We look forward to seeing the response they get from locals and visitors alike’.
