Spicy new venue revealed at Gloucester Food Dock

Gloucester Food Dock, one of the most hotly anticipated developments in the city, will be hosting its own new Mexican eatery – with the latest food business opening, just revealed.

Food outlet Elote, after the grilled Mexican sweetcorn of the same name, is the latest business to be joining Gloucester Food Dock in 2022.

Gloucester Food Dock, the £3.5 million waterside development overlooking the Victoria Basin, has revealed the latest name to join its growing list of food outlets – the Mexican food business Elote.

Owners of the development, Ladybellegate Estates Ltd, made the latest grand-reveal hot on the heals of unveiling the American-style burger restaurant Chuck in May 2022.

It brings the total number of names at Gloucester Food Dock to six, with Elote joining Sibling Distillery, Strip Steak Bar, Wholly Gelato and artisan pizza business, Bella Mia – with that total expected to rise to as many as 15 food businesses when the doors open.

A statement from Bath-based Ladybellegate Estates Ltd called Elote ‘a stand out offering of simple cuisine, executed well with attention to detail’.

‘We look forward to inviting you to step inside Elote, the next business to join us at GFD. Its cool interior with natural materials and tones will be the perfect backdrop to the flavour packed world of authentic Mexican cuisine,’ said the statement.

‘Working closely with Mexican chefs, the Elote team has created a combination of Tex Mex and traditional Mexican dishes, using ingredients supplied directly from Mexican grocers.’

It is understood the project to transform the building, which also fronts Commercial Road and is beside the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, is on track and expected to open in the autumn of 2022.

A milestone was reached in May 2022 with the arrival of all of the steel structure that will become the glass-fronted eateries and roof-top dining areas at the new foodie destination.
