Residents from Lilian Faithfull Care’s Resthaven nursing home in Stroud are judging an Easter bonnet crafting competition for their local primary school.
Pupils at Rosary Primary School in Stroud have been making Easter bonnets at home during the Coronavirus lockdown, and sending pictures on to staff at Resthaven to show to their residents, who will judge the competition.
A total of 12 bonnets have been sent for consideration, with residents being asked to pick two winners. Pictures of the winning bonnets will be posted on Lilian Faithfull’s Instagram.
The idea behind the competition is to maintain the connection between children and elderly people, even during the Coronavirus lockdown.
Home Manager Jo Goode said: ‘Thanks to Yvonne Kelly-Fox our Activity Co-ordinator and the wonderful Rosary Primary School, we are so lucky that despite these difficult times, we have maintained the relationships built over the last few months between the children and our residents.
‘I know everyone here at Resthaven had great fun judging the Easter bonnets and it provoked lots of conversation from when the residents were young and use to make their own Easter bonnets.’
