While the Fourth of July is celebrated with fireworks in the United States, Monday 4 July 2022 could become meaningful for an entirely different reason – by choosing this day to start your fostering journey and joining Gloucestershire County Council’s latest online information session.

With some 850 children of all ages in care in the county, local foster carers are urgently needed, not to mention essential in providing continuity, so that youngsters can stay where they are at school, as well as in the vicinity of friends and family.

A social worker and an experienced foster carer will host the council’s latest friendly and informal introductory event on Zoom, starting at 6.30pm on Monday 4 July 2022.

Providing an overview of what fostering entails, the hour-long session will cover everything from eligibility criteria to the different types of foster care, the process of becoming a foster carer, personal stories of fostering, as well as the support available and foster care pay.

Fostering is open to anyone over 21, regardless of race, religion or sexuality, whether you are single or in a relationship; in employment or not; rent or own your home – so, if you’re considering fostering in the future (or even thinking of applying soon), this information session is for you.
