Hold onto your hats (and stomachs) as the annual Elver Eating Championships returns to Frampton-on-Severn.

The annual Elver Eating Championships is back for another year this September, which will take place at Frampton Country Fair.

The competition will take place on Sunday 13 September 2020, as part of the spectacular Frampton Country Fair. Competitors are challenged each year to eat a plateful of two-inch-long eel-shaped fish, in the fastest amount of time.

After a shortage of eels put a halt on proceedings for four decades, the competition made a triumphant comeback in 2015. A sustainable, man-made, Spanish alternative is now used, with the replacements affectionately known as el-vers.

There’s plenty more to see and do throughout the day with a farmers’ market, various shows and children’s activities also taking place at Frampton Country Fair.
