Gloucestershire Constabulary launches anti-burglary campaign

Gloucestershire Constabulary is launching its autumn Operation Switch campaign, with the aim to crack down on burglaries during the time of year when crime typically increases.

Dedicated to preventing crime in the county, Gloucestershire Constabulary has launched its seasonal anti-burglary campaign, Operation Switch.

The autumn initiative aims to decrease the amount of crime in Gloucestershire at a time when the longer, darker nights traditionally leading to an increased number of burglaries.

Detailing quick and easy solutions to protect the home, the campaign includes actions such as locking doors securely; leaving lights switched on when out of the house; and not ‘checking in’ to places on social media.

With Gloucestershire statistics revealing that 75 per cent of people don’t set their burglar alarms; 25 per cent don’t leave any lights on when out of the house; and 20 per cent fail to lock their doors when they go out, the constabulary’s guidelines offer simple changes for locals to protect their property.
