A celebratory showcase at Cheltenham’s Chapel Arts, The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers’ (RE) Rebels exhibition promises an engaging display of carefully curated prints, featuring prints from current members who’ve chosen inspiration from past members.

Running on Wednesdays to Saturdays between 25 April and 12 May 2018, The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers’ Rebels celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of its founder and first president, Francis Seymour Haden.

Rebels features a number of prints that have been chosen to celebrate the anniversary; the sets of prints will be going to the Queen’s Collection, the British Museum and the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge – currently, the only places to see sets of them are at the Bankside Gallery and at Cheltenham’s Chapel Arts, with the exhibitions running concurrently.

What’s more there will be members of the prestigious society visiting Chapel Arts to discuss its history and guide visitors around the exhibition; explaining the various techniques and processes, it’s such to provide a unique experience in Cheltenham.

One of the world’s premier printmaking organisations, all of the RE’s members are practising professional printmakers, elected by a panel of peers following a rigorous selection process. Based at Bankside Gallery, next to Tate Modern, the RE holds regular exhibitions showcasing the best in contemporary printmaking.
