Cotswolds Distillery releases first Single Malt Whisky

Good things certainly come to those who wait as after three years in the making, Cotswolds Distillery is set to release its much-anticipated Single Malt Whisky.

The time has finally come for Cotswolds Distillery to release its high-anticipated Single Malt Whisky – three years after the award-winning distillery began production at its site in the North Cotswolds.

The independent distillery will unveil its limited edition inaugural release, comprised of just 4,000 bottles which sold out in pre-sales in 2016, in the first week of October, before subsequent releases go on sale from November 2017.

Production began in September 2014 under the guidance of renowned industry expert, the late Dr Jim Swan, and has been matured in a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels and specially shaved, toasted and re-charred red wine casks, to give the whisky a rich and fruity style.

Provenance of raw ingredients was important to the team behind Cotswolds Distillery, which has committed to using only Cotswold-grown, floor-malted barley in all its single malt whiskies.

Daniel Szor, founder and CEO, Cotswolds Distillery said: ‘Our Single Malt is the culmination of years of hard work, combining over five decades of ‘grain to glass’ production knowledge from internationally-renowned experts with the region’s best-in-class ingredients. We’ve managed to produce something truly remarkable, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved.’

To celebrate the launch, Cotswolds Distillery is hosting a Whisky Harvest Festival on Saturday 7 October 2017, offering the chance to visit the distillery near Shipston-on-Stour, enjoy live music, food and of course sample a dram or two. Spaces are limited so make sure you book in advance in order to avoid disappointment.
