9 brilliant bars where you can try Neptune Rum

The world’s most awarded rum of 2018, Neptune Rum, is now available at some of the coolest bars in Gloucestershire. Here’s our roundup of where you can grab a glass.

After moving into its new Cheltenham headquarters in 2018, Neptune Rum also became lead sponsor of the 2019 SoGlos Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards, giving lucky nominees and winners the chance to try a stunning rum cocktail featuring the world’s most awarded rum of 2018.

Cheltenham based Neptune Rum is taking the spirit world by storm – but being named after the God of the sea, we shouldn’t be surprised!

The world’s most awarded rum of 2018, Neptune Rum is a delicious golden rum, created at the oldest, family-run distillery in Barbados.

1. The Retreat


Known as one of Cheltenham’s most popular bars, The Retreat, housed in the heart of The Suffolks has been family run since 1982.

An ideal destination for lovers of live music and a party atmosphere, the venue also hosts regular quizzes, and a monthly supper club. It’s also a great spot for cocktails, where you can pick up a gorgeously blended Neptune Rum cocktail.


2. Door 4


Located in Cheltenham’s trendy Montpellier, Door 4 is a creative cocktail bar promising to serve up drinks that ‘challenge the taste buds’.

Offering a range of cheese and charcuterie boards to accompany its stand-out cocktail menu, Door 4 is a great choice for those looking to trial some new flavours.

But if you’re after a sure-fire hit, this venue also stocks the world’s most awarded rum, Neptune.


3. The Beehive Pub


Another Montpellier favourite, The Beehive is a friendly local bar and eatery serving up tasty pub grub, and a delicious range of wines, beers and spirits.

4. The Tavern


Known for its brilliant burgers, hipster-chic décor and effortlessly cool atmosphere, The Tavern is a great spot for meeting your mates and catching up on the week.

5. Purslane


Cheltenham’s friendly fine dining restaurant, Purslane, prides itself on pairing British seafood with seasonal produce from across the Cotswolds.

But alongside its fabulous foodie offering, the venue also stocks a range of wines and spirits, including Neptune Rum, which can be perfectly paired to each dish.


6. The Clarence Social


This stylish bar in the heart of the Cheltenham nightlife scene boasts a secret speakeasy bar and a mezzanine restaurant.

Serving up an array of carefully constructed drinks and cocktails, sit-down dinners and canapes for organised functions, it’s no wonder this effortlessly cool venue was chosen to stock Neptune Rum in its well-stocked bar.


7. No. 131


This beautiful Georgian townhouse isn’t quite what it appears. Its classic architecture is actually home to a contemporary British hotel and restaurant, branded as ‘one of the coolest places to eat in England’ by Tatler.

Stocking dishes packed with locally sourced ingredients, and perfectly blended cocktails, No.131 is a food and drink lovers’ ideal destination in the heart of Cheltenham.

The venue even offers cocktail making classes in its bar, where you can learn how to make a delicious rum cocktail featuring a measure or two of Neptune Rum.


8. Gin & Juice


The new Gin and Juice Bar at No. 131 has launched to rave reviews.

Alongside an incredibly well-stocked gin collection, the venue hasn’t forgotten the world’s most awarded rum, with Neptune Rum high on the drinks agenda in this classy new bar.


9. The Feathered Fish


The Feathered Fish Bar and Kitchen near to Pittville Park is a beautifully refurbished bar, with space for dancing, drinks and delicious food.

This fun venue is also home to a function room with a private bar.

Both bars stock a range of cocktails, spirits and wines, with Neptune Rum also available.
