The White Spoon triumphs at The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards 2016

The White Spoon in Cheltenham has been crowned New Restaurant of the Year at The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards 2016, beating off competition from across the country to pick up the national recognition.

Cheltenham’s The White Spoon has already made its mark on the Gloucestershire food scene, but now it’s been given a national seal of approval after winning New Restaurant of the Year at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards 2016.

The independent restaurant, which opened its doors in September 2015, beat off competition from across the country to be crowned winner at the award ceremony, dubbed the Chefs’ Oscars, at the Lancaster London Hotel on Wednesday 1 June 2016.

The awards recognise leading talent across the hospitality industry, with the judging process for New Restaurant of the Year involving a review of the dining experiences at each of the four category finalists.

Owners, Chris White and Purdey Spooner, are delighted to have picked up the award. ‘We are over the moon and couldn’t quite believe it when they announced that we had won, we are so humbled considering the stiff competition we were up against.

‘Although the award may have my name on it, it is truly a team effort, and it really is down to the hard work and dedication of the management, kitchen and front of house team as a collective… We are looking forward to the future as we continue to build on the solid foundations we have laid in the last 10 months,’ said chef proprietor Chris.

The restaurant champions local produce and suppliers to create innovative dishes, which combined with a relaxed setting, offers an exceptional dining experience in the heart of Cheltenham.
