The Sheep on Sheep Street hotel and restaurant opens in Stow

There's a new kid on the block in Stow-on-the-Wold after The Sheep on Sheep Street opened its doors, offering a stylish place to eat and sleep in the heart of the Cotswold market town.

Discerning locals and visitors alike will be flocking to The Sheep on Sheep Street, a newly opened boutique hotel and restaurant in the market town of Stow-on-the-Wold.

The stylish bar and restaurant with rooms replaces The Grapevine Hotel after it was purchased by Oxfordshire-based pub company, Brakspear, which has transformed the 17th century venue following an extensive renovation project.

Customers can expect fresh, chic, and modern interiors throughout, with vintage prints, modern art, parquet flooring, pendant lighting and quirky tiles adding a heavy dose of style to the Cotswold hotel and eatery.

The large open bar and area offers space for 100 diners, while the plant-filled courtyard garden is perfect for alfresco drinking and dining, and benefits from an outdoor feature fireplace.

Diners can enjoy seasonal dishes based around the wood-fired oven, with a range of pizzas, a choice of grills, small sharing plates, tempting salads and more to choose from, while there’s also a speciality gin menu on offer.

Executive head chef, Anthony Ely, said: ‘We’ve devised a menu which is healthy, approachable and accessible and with quality and provenance using local, seasonal produce wherever possible.’

The Sheep also benefits from en-suite accommodation, with 22 stylish bedrooms featuring a muted palette of grey and blue tones that complement the exposed Cotswold stone walls, along with luxury touches, including Nespresso coffee machines.
