Planning a romantic weekend away this Valentine’s Day? Look no further than the Cotswolds – as the area is named one of the most romantic staycation destinations in the country.

The Cotswolds has been named one of the most romantic staycation destinations in the UK, according to holidaycottages.co.uk.

The Cotswolds made its list of the top six romantic staycation destinations in the UK – alongside the Norfolk seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea; the colourful, Mediterranean vibes of Portmeirion in Wales; and the rugged landscape of Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.

It described the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as ‘perfect for couples who love quaint English villages’ – recommending a scenic road trip taking in Cleeve Hill, Stanway and Moreton-in-Marsh as a great Valentine’s Day date idea.

Although not strictly in the Cotswolds, Cheltenham also gets a mention as a ‘great romantic location in its own right.’

Digital PR manager at holidaycottages.co.uk, Shannon Keary, said: ‘Whilst these locations are great at all times of year, there is nothing like spending quality time with your partner exploring beautiful locations on Valentine’s Day.

‘With the big day falling on a Monday this year, it’s the perfect excuse for a long romantic weekend. Whether it’s taking a stroll in Fort William or fishing in Wells-next-the-Sea, there is something to suit every couples tastes in this list.’
