In a real county coup, from Saturday 19 October 2013, The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury will be playing host to classical performances from some remarkably talented musicians.
The annual Classical Concert Series is a well established platform for both veteran performers and rising musical stars to showcase their talents, offering Gloucestershire fans a rare chance to hear world-class works on the doorstep.
Renowned pianist Freddy Kempf, who rose to international stardom after winning the BBC Young Musician Of The Year Competition in 1992, will be performing Beethoven’s ‘Piano Sonata Op.109’, Schumann’s ‘Symphonic Etudes’, Chopin’s ‘Raindrop Prelude’ and Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures At An Exhibition’. Kempf will take to the stage on the opening night of the series, on Saturday 19 October 2013.
Then making its Tewkesbury debut, the Jubilee Quartet will be performing on Friday 7 March 2014. The winners of the Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition will be treating audiences to renditions of Mozart’s ‘Quartet K.421’, Beethoven’s ‘Quartet Op.18 No. 4’ and Mendelssohn’s ‘Quartet Op.80’.
The final concert of the series will be a partnership between violinist Joo Yeon Sir and pianist Irena Andrievsky on Friday 4 April 2014. The pair will perform Mozart’s ‘Sonata for Violin’ and Piano in B flat Major KV378’, Beethoven’s ‘Sonata No. 5 for Violin and Piano in F Major Op.24’, Cesar Franck’s ‘Sonata for Violin and Piano’ and Frolov’s ‘Concert Fantasie on Themes from G’.
