10 unmissable things to do in Gloucestershire this April

With Easter, spring and the school holidays filling up April 2019, there's a ridiculous amount of Gloucestershire's events to look out for – here's our 10 most unmissable.

Free yoga, egg hunts and Easter-themed afternoon tea are all coming this April 2019. We’ve ‘laid’ almost a dozen of the most ‘egg-cellent’ ideas for your best April 2019 ever.


1. HAIR the Musical at Everyman Theatre


Set in 1967 New York HAIR the Musical will transport Everyman Theatre audiences back to the summer of love. Celebrating 50 years since the sizzling cult musical first came out, the anniversary production stars Jake Quickenden and Daisy Wood-Davis, on stage in Cheltenham from Monday 1 to Saturday 6 April 2019.


2. Free Lunchtime Yoga at The Isbourne


Add some calm to your day on Thursday 4 April 2019 when The Isbourne hosts a Free Lunchtime Yoga session in Cheltenham. Stretch away the stresses of the day and try out some new poses.


3. Horrible Histories at Bacon Theatre


A spectacularly gruesome tale of time is heading to Bacon Theatre on Thursday 4 April 2019, when Horrible Histories takes to the stage. Straight from London’s West End, see Richard III causing a stir, Mary Tudor taking on Mary Queen of Scots and, if that’s not enough, Queen Elizabeth I has to deal with her terrible teeth.


4. Tweedy's Illusion Confusion at Stroud Subscription Rooms


Causing mayhem in a whirlwind of madness, Tweedy is bringing with his Illusion Confusion tour to Stroud on Saturday 6 April 2019. Packed with slapstick silliness, Tweedy will try his hand at being a magician, but not everything goes to plan. Tweedy’s magic show will also be at Everyman Theatre from Friday 29 to Saturday 30 March 2019.


5. Go on an Easter egg hunt in Gloucestershire


The Easter bunny will be busy delivering boundless eggs to excited kids across, and we’ve handpicked this ‘cracking’ collection of 14 egg hunts around Gloucestershire.


6. Fevertree Gin & Tonic Tasting Masterclass at Hillside Brewery


Sip on a sensational selection of gin and tonics at Hillside Brewery on Thursday 11 April 2019. The Fevertree Gin & Tonic Tasting Masterclass will give guests the chance to learn how different tonics make a difference to your gin, with four gin and tonic tasters as well as buffet food. Delish.


7. Rare Plant Fair in Quenington


With spring being the perfect time to tidy up the garden and give those flower beds some love, gardeners will enjoy the Rare Plant Fair in Quenington on Sunday 14 April 2019. The event also raises funds for local charity, Cobalt.


8. The April Meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse


Get close to the action and take advantage of a more relaxed pace at Cheltenham Racecourse when The April Meeting takes place on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 April 2019.


9. Countrytastic at Three Counties Showground


Jam packed with family-friendly activities, the one-day-only Countrytastic is back on Thursday 18 April 2019. Expect farmyard animals, tractor rides, cuddly animals and a visit from the SoGlos Discovery too!


10. Easter Chocolate Afternoon Tea at Stonehouse Court


Easter is the official chocolate eating season and Stonehouse Court is hosting a delicious Chocolate Afternoon Tea on Sunday 21 April 2019. Including cakes and bakes, the afternoon tea will be served inside the country hotel.
