The buzz at the forthcoming SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards will be all the more special, thanks to the skills of Richard Parsons.
Otherwise known as the Gloucestershire Magician, Mr Parsons was a familiar face at events across the county pre-pandemic, literally bringing magic to whatever the occasion.
He will be working the room again at September’s inaugural SGGBA event, taking place at Weston Aviation’s hangar at Gloucestershire Airport and made possible by a host of sponsors, including GFirst LEP and The Growth Hub.
‘It has been a difficult time for everyone and I think that has made people realise how real life networking is so important. Zoom can work, but you can do far more meeting people in person,’ said Mr Parsons, who saw his business performing to live audiences forced to shut for 14 months.
Although the pandemic did not stop him entirely, as he and other magicians managed online events for the likes of the RAF, with work at some smaller functions returning earlier this year.
‘I think the pandemic has made people appreciate relationships much more, not just with family, but with other businesspeople – and we have a thriving business community in Gloucestershire.
‘That is one of the things that is so good about the SoGlos awards – they help bring people together. Nothing beats the buzz of a real event.
‘It will be great to be back performing at a big event again.’
In Gloucestershire in 2021, celebrations will not come much bigger than the SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards.
Judges had the challenging task of picking the winners from 421 nominations in the 17 SGGBA categories – as well as the Outstanding Contribution to Business in Gloucestershire award.
Winners will be revealed at the event itself on Thursday 9 September 2021.
