Gloucestershire tea drinkers will soon have a trendy new spot to indulge their habit when premium Australian tea brand, T2, opens in Cheltenham this autumn – marking the retailer’s first shop outside of London.
The cult tea brand is to take up a prominent position on The Promenade, situated between Whistles and Jo Malone, and will make a welcome addition to the town’s bustling shopping scene when it opens the week commencing Monday 21 September 2015.
Darren Williams, international retail director, explained why they chose the Gloucestershire spa town for its first regional outpost in the UK: ‘I think the demographic is perfect for T2 because it’s an affluent town but it’s also a great student place and we appeal to both sets.
‘The Promenade was the street we wanted and we’ve got one of the best positions as well. I think with our beautiful shop fit, it’s going to look wonderful and be a very beautiful and stylish addition to Cheltenham.’
The retail chain, which began in Melbourne nearly 20 years ago, offers a unique tea experience, with more than 200 different varieties of loose leaf tea on offer, along with an amazing range of brewing equipment spanning cups to pots.
Shoppers can expect to find three distinct elements in the store, encompassing a vast tea library, a smell table and a tasting bar where you can try before you buy.
Darren added: ‘I think what’s quite unique about T2 is there’s no one like us in the UK. We consider ourselves to be, not only tea specialists, but completely in love with the world of tea.’
