Future uncertain for Whole Foods Market Cheltenham

The future of Whole Foods Market Cheltenham is uncertain after the American health food chain announced that it’s proposing to close its Gloucestershire store.

Whole Foods Market is planning to close its Cheltenham store according to a statement from the US health food supermarket chain.

Whole Foods spokesperson, Betsy Harden, said: ‘Fresh & Wild Ltd./Whole Foods Market announced today that it is proposing to close its Cheltenham and Giffnock locations.

‘A decision on the future of the stores will be made after the company has consulted with team members to discuss the proposal. In the event that the decision is taken to close the stores, we will work with team members to explore alternative employment opportunities.

‘This proposal was unrelated to the Amazon merger and we remain committed to serving the UK market and providing high-quality natural and organic products to our customers.’

The upmarket eco-minded food retailer, which opened its Gloucestershire outpost five years ago, stocks a range of health food products, fresh produce, organic skincare, along with offering an on-site café.
