With something for tiny tots to mums and dads, East Glos Club is the perfect place to get fit as a family. Perfect for beginners or pros, families can try their hand at tennis all year round at the Cheltenham-based rackets club.
Families can head to the squash courts, join the hockey team or even take part in a match or two. What’s more, there’s even an on-site café to fuel up after a hitting the courts as a family.
Boing, bounce and bound around at Cheltenham’s popular family attraction Airborne Trampoline Park, which has sessions for toddlers, teens and adults. For a workout with a difference, join in with the Airburn high energy fitness classes, which incorporate cardio, toning and core strengthen for those aged 16 and over.
Start the weekend with a family run at either Gloucester or Cheltenham’s Parkrun. With a five kilometre route for adults in both Pittville Park in Cheltenham and Gloucester Park, there’s a shorter two kilometre route for kids.
Promising an enjoyable and active day out, families can enjoy some free fitness fun in the Forest of Dean, where the Cannop Cycle Centre marks the start of a gentle Family Cycle Trail. Leading cyclists through the magical woodlands, the picturesque trail also connects to villages and picnic spots for a lovely trip.
Parents can keep the kids busy and themselves fit during the warmer months, with a swimming session at Sandford Parks Lido in Cheltenham, which is open from Friday 29 March to 11 October 2019.
Home to a children’s pool and paddling pool, in addition to a 50m main pool with dedicated swimming lanes, there’s plenty of space for the whole family to splash around.
Boasting a jam-packed programme of family fitness fun, Leisure at Cheltenham offers plenty of chance for children to burn off some steam, with everything from gymnastics and trampolining to cheerleading. Meanwhile, grown-ups can break a sweat in the gym, hit the lanes in the swimming pool, or join classes including step, spin and Zumba.
