The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham is undoubtedly one of Gloucestershire’s finest entertainment venues, playing host to an eclectic line-up of drama, dance, comedy, ballet, opera, and music events – not to mention its annual family-favourite pantomime.
Located on Regent Street in the centre of Cheltenham, the Everyman Theatre’s main auditorium, designed by the reputed Frank Matcham, is an architectural masterpiece which has inspired generations of performers who have taken to the stage during its illustrious history, dating back to 1891.
For those who want to discover more about the history of the Victorian venue, the Everyman Theatre runs backstage tours of the auditorium, offering the chance to get up close to the stage, wings and dressing rooms, and hear exciting tales about ghosts and the theatre’s rich heritage.
Throughout the year the historic town-centre theatre also hosts numerous community projects, educational workshops and productions from The Everyman Youth Theatre, which partners with The Gloucestershire Youth Theatre Company to offer first-class training.
Whether you’re attending a performance or just want to enjoy a relaxing drink or bite to eat in Cheltenham town centre, The Café Bar is open from 9.30am until the evening interval on show days and offers a selection of drinks, snacks and hot or cold meals.
Alternatively, make your way to Matchams Restaurant on the second floor for the chance to dine from an a la carte menu from midday on matinee days or from 5.45pm for evening shows. Head to The Circle Bar for a relaxed pre-show drink. While the Directors’ Lounge on the third-floor adds the opportunity to add VIP sparkle to a special theatre visit, with pre-show and interval hospitality.
